"Final" Trip to Tucson for Warranty Job.....at least for now!

Browsing the Tiffin Network Forum, as Lindy is prone to do, she found discussions on stress cracks, appearing just below the driver side bedroom slide. We looked and sure enough, found one on our coach! Now all this happened the end of November...and we had just returned from Lazydays Tucson for completion of warranty items (and "exercising" our coach at the suggested monthly intervals). We had planned on a trip mid January, perhaps to Death Valley, but decided to have this issue addressed so a drive once again to Tucson was planned. Communication to Tiffin and Lazydays confirmed that the repair could be completed by Lazydays, covered by Tiffin under warranty.

Finished!
We scheduled the work and reserved a site at the Lazydays Campground for January 13-16, 2013. We were experiencing cold weather (not like what our friends Bob and Jo have experienced in Missouri) but still interesting! The day of departure, we had no water! A check on the faucet confirmed it had frozen. It wasn't too bad, for one pitcher of hot water (zapped in the microwave) did the trick! It was to be a cold week, so we did what we could to ensure all to be safe while we were gone.

The body shop is about a half mile from the Campground, once we were in Tucson, and we were to take the coach each day to the shop, so we only hooked up electricity each night after topping off the water tank in the coach, to avoid further water problems and to make take-down each morning easier.

Originally we were told that it would take three days for the repair, but by Tuesday noon, the repair was complete! Hooray! Our friends Nancy and Betsy (RV-a-GOGO) that we met in November were still at Lazydays, so we arranged to meet for lunch on Wednesday. They were departing Friday, coming to North Ranch Monday to weigh their coach on their way to Quartzsite and points west. We agreed to meet them at North Ranch.

Picacho Peak from out site at the RV Park
Being country loving folks, and feeling like we had "explored" Tucson enough...we took off Thursday, heading 30 miles up the road to Picacho Peak. We chose to stay at the RV Resort--a mistake! They advise campers NOT to use the water for drinking or cooking, and their sites were close. The office assured us that we would probably be okay for our short stay without anyone on either side of us. We enjoyed the view, but in our visit to the State Park we identified a couple of excellent sites for camping on our next trip!

You can't miss the prominent peak of Picacho Peak. We had a nice view of the peak from our site. In spring, we decided the carpet of wildflowers would be a terrific sight! The unique shape has been used as a landmark by travelers since prehistoric times, one of the first recorded was in the 1700s by the Anza Expedition as it passed through the area (like El Morro in New Mexico ). It is a great place to come in March to watch reenactments of the Arizona Civil War skirmish and EVEN the New Mexico battles of Glorieta and Val Verde, for those interested in such. Visitors travel from around the country to experience three fascinating historic battle reenactments complete with lifestyles of the soldiers in the southwest during the 1860s.

Friday we hiked the Calloway Trail, 0.7 miles up to an overlook, with nice views to the east and south east. We enjoyed being among those giants of the desert, the Saguaro!

Can you find our coach?

Sunset....almost!

Enjoy! All the best!

PS:  It snowed today here at North Ranch! For a couple of minutes [:)] was almost a white-out!
