Is Mother Nature Trying to Tell us Something....? Or is it Buffalo....?

Currently in Columbus, MT (home of Montana Silversmiths!) High 93   Low  54   Currently 78 Cloudy, scattered thunderstorms tonight.... Deer Park Campground, Buffalo, WY 9/2014 Remember last September --our stay in Buffalo, WY...?  Well, something about us, perhaps that campground, and/or something else--we do not know! We have been throughout this trip watching the weather. Deer Park Campground, Buffalo, WY 7/2015 So during our stay at Buffalo things were looking A-OK.... Well, midnight Thursday (Friday morning?) we were rudely awakened by several loud crashes of thunder followed by lightening....then RAIN, with more thunder crashes and lightening flashes....! We checked the Power Control System, and yes, power was out....! The only difference between this visit and the one last September was the temperature! There was no snow this time! Oh, and the time was different....! We were okay with our battery/inverter system--no need to run the generator; as we kept check

Currently at the Rafter Jar Bar Ranch 71 degrees, mostly cloudy  Low 57 80% chance of rain--thunderstorms during the evening We have had interesting weather this trip! We left Cape Girardeau, MO early to "get ahead" of a rain storm, only to have rain follow us, it seems, throughout our travels and stay in Illinois and on! We experienced our first tornado siren at the Sioux Falls KOA, about 1 AM, in the pouring down rain... We had been watching the severe weather approaching, so before we went to bed pulled in all but one of the slides, had our "to-go" bag out, and raincoats....so piled out of bed, gathered up the very sleepy dog, and followed the crowd to the nearest bathroom, even tho' we had read the park brochure which stated that the "reinforced steel pavilion was the structure to go to in a storm." We were just being good sheep! When the KOA Workkamper came down and announced that we should go to the steel reinforced structure, we joined the

This is the view out our "picture window" at the Rafter J Bar Mountain Resort. We are LOVING IT!! Rupert gives his bark of approval, for there is real grass, not the pokey stuff, where he can play soccer! Currently, near Hill City, SD, Cloudy, 72. High 77   Low 58 The altitude is approximately 5200 feet. And we are surrounded by trees, mountains, and lots of grass! What a great yard we have! We are enjoying the view, the quiet, and making use of the George S. Mickelson Trail, easily accessible from the park, unfortunately heading uphill as we travel south, but the grade is 4%, so very doable. And the return ride is ALL DOWNHILL! What fun! This is our third day here, out of 15--and we definitely will return for a longer stay! We will be posting more about the Mickelson trail , and our time here at the Rafter J! Our site is spacious, with fantastic views. Oh, and did we say how much we are enjoying it....? Here are pictures of our site and the view behind us.
