Update on Pins for 2013....Catching up....

Remember these...? Well, we've added a few in our recent travels....

Picacho Peak was January. On the 2013 row we have added 10 pins, but upon close inspection one will note that several are from the same location....we just liked them!

These 4 are all of from Yosemite National Park. We like benchmarks...and we have one each of El Capitan, 7569', and Half Dome, 8842'. The coordinates for each is also listed on these pins. To the right of these are two more pins from Yosemite, which are representative of the park, one with the year, and we liked them! Good enough reason, don't you think?!

On the bottom row, at the left, you'll see the yellow pin, "Bear Crossing"--also from Yosemite...another one we liked!

We traveled up to Redding where we  biked and walked across the Sundial Bridge and visited the Turtle Bay Exploration Park. These three pins reflect our time in Redding, CA.

We finally stayed at Seven Feathers RV Resort, Canyonville, OR! As previously described, it is truly a Good Sam Perfect 10! We highly recommend this Campground! We enjoyed the casino, as well!

Our next stop was Aurora Acres, Aurora, Oregon, where we had a picnic May 11 at Champoeg State Park, where Oregon's statehood was decided in 1859. We were excited to find this pin in the visitor's center.

The picnic was fun, bringing together friends and family for an informal good time. Here is Lindy's brother, Scotty and his son Andy looking at family letters Lindy had scanned on a DVD. Timothy, another brother, is in the background.

Once again we are at Valley Camp, just east of North Bend,WA, enjoying the meadow, the deer and the elk, and the shenanigans of an old bear that is in the area! The Camp had a bear trap for the first couple of weeks but the bear knew exactly what it was! He would shake the trailer until the door closed, then reach in and grab as much as he could of the bait. The Forest Service finally came and took the bear trap to another location. One morning we discovered the trashcan gone from the fenced in trash area. It was found that afternoon in the woods behind the area, obvious teeth marks in the empty trash bag lining the trash can....! A couple of nights ago we were awakened about 2:30 am to the sounds of animals "going at at....". Thom Proehl explored the area the next day and agreed that the evidence shows that it was highly likely two bears were "arguing" over territory....!

We have been to Yellowstone, wanting to see bears but didn't, in Glacier where one was spotted briefly in the river near the KOA where we were staying. However, only Mike saw it then....   In Yosemite bear sightings were also possible, but we did not see any....and now, as we walk around beautiful Valley Camp, we really do NOT want to see one! But we do walk "carefully", imagining the bear celebrating, as so far he has outsmarted the trap, successfully defended his territory, and now can sit in the woods and laugh at us....?!

These are taken on the trail just below where we heard the bears....beautiful in the daytime with the sun shining!!!

The rain showers are just that--showers, and when the sun shines, it is warm! We are looking forward to the next few weeks, enjoying the bike trails in the area and hiking.

Later!

Roving Riders, NOT Swirvin on down the road just yet....!
