Walla Walla to Farewell Bend State Park--Via Elgin OR to LaGrande, in Fog and Rain....
We are in the midst of what the weather channel is calling "Mountain Snows in the North West"....! Thankfully, we have only experienced wet fog near the pass before Elgin (5100'), then rain showers as we descended. Weather at LaGrande was beautiful and dry! Just a bit on the chilly side as the wind was blowing. It felt very "winter like", reminiscent of all the Christmases we spent driving through this country heading for the Willamette valley. We chose two-lane highways from Walla Walla: WA 125 to OR 11, then OR 204, OR 82 to I-84 and found the drive okay, especially after leaving the fog behind! Here is our route:

We are glad we did NOT venture on our original plan; traveling east on US 12 then south on US 93. We still have mountain country to travel, but the storm will be past before we get to those sections.
We had reserved a pull through site at Farewell Bend State Park, with 30 AMPS and water. We figured we could go 2 days without dumping. The State Park is really nice! Very different from when we stopped with our trailer many, many years ago! Of course, in the summer it is very hot and as we passed through all those winters of many years ago--very very cold! We are finding the weather just right this trip! We ran the heater this morning, more than just one cycle!
We have a beautiful view of the Snake River, just like we did at Granite Lake! We are opposite two cabins that have decks overlooking the Snake. We are in Loop C. Loop B has several sites with 50 AMPS, so we conducted a walking tour, inspecting each that accepts a rig 40', and making notes as to which ones we want! We shall return at some future point!
The grass looks a little like hard scrabble....What we like about the site is that there is no one around us! The joys of traveling in the off season! We'll be on the road in the morning, and we do expect more coming in later today for the weekend. All in all, this has been a very pleasant "home" for a couple of days!
We found a cache yesterday, hidden in the park. Here is Lindy with the Paws near the cache:
Later!
Roving Riders, Swirvin on down the road!
