What would YOU do when someone is rapidly backing towards your Home on Wheels?
It was fun sitting in our rig this morning watching cozy homes safely anchored on their assigned home spot morph back into vehicles, capable of navigating on down the road. And there were a bunch of them! There was every kind of rig: large class A motor homes and fifth wheels, smaller fifth wheels and travel trailers, and a range of class C rigs, rented and owned. Park was full last night, but it certainly cleared out this morning! Why do so many people travel in RVs? Lindy found an interesting article on this topic: How I learned to stop worrying and love RV-ing.
Speaking of fun, it is fun to watch the process of setting up, tearing down and pulling out. We all do the various chores required for this change to occur differently, and watching does provide entertainment and occasionally a bit of knowledge is acquired as a new, more efficient way of doing a task is observed. We all do it! We all have fun doing it! But, what if YOUR rig is in danger of a "grand movement?" Could it happen?
Yes! We spent some time near Zion in a nice, but tight RV park, filled with all sorts of rigs and individuals with a wide range of "expertise" in handling these rigs....! We have to say, sometimes it DOES get interesting! While in Zion we stood in front of our coach to "help" them back in.....
We experienced something a little different in Page. We were in back-to-back sites. Lindy heard a rig behind us, so looked out the window. Mike went to the bedroom to look out the window there. Lindy saw the shadow of the motor home moving rapidly towards our coach. Mike yelled for Lindy to blow the horn as the coach was coming fast towards us.... Lindy blow the horn several times and the coach stopped. Both of us went outside to find the guy directing the process from the front of the coach....! He said: "We weren't going to hit you guys...." Really?!! We have been doing this all wrong! We have been going much too slow when backing into sites....! We need to speed it up...! And Mike needs to stand in front of the coach as Lindy backs in.....!
We enjoyed our time near Zion--sightseeing AND the armchair observation of site setting up and tearing down...Will blog about the sight seeing later.
We are in Williams, AZ, at the very nice Grand Canyon Railway RV Park heading out tomorrow for Prescott Valley, just outside of Prescott.
Roving Riders SWIRVIN on down the road!

That's what we need, more speed getting into a RV site.
