On the Oregon Coast!

At the beach in an "Oregon Mist"...just a little rain....
How accurate are your weather forecasts? After a little more than a week here on the Oregon Coast, we have discovered that we really cannot believe the weather forecast! The day after we arrived, we were to meet Beverly for lunch. The day started out with beautiful blue, clear skies, with lots of sunshine! As we sat eating lunch, the fog rolled in! Beverly had chosen that day for lunch and a photo shoot for a new housing listing based on the weather forecast...! The fog stayed around until about 3....!

We have had rain, cloudy skies, partly cloudy skies, beautiful clear, blue skies--typical Oregon Coast weather! Often, all in one day! The problem is we part-timers here on the Oregon Coast are not used to that "typical" Oregon Coast weather! We are getting a refresher course in it! And it really is a great experience! Usually, the clouds form in the morning, then burn off by noon. We can sit outside in the sunshine late afternoons, enjoying the warmth, then the wind picks up and we grab that extra jacket. We note that the temps inland are hotter than on the coast, so we are glad we are here, even if it means throwing on a jacket, or running the fireplace! We have learned, as my friend told me, to layer, to take a jacket with us just in case the wind and/or a storm blows in.

We have abandoned the 76 steps down to the beach immediately across from the Park. Tackling the steps means both dogs would have to be carried:  both down and up...  Instead, we load up the pickup and drive down to the beach by Siletz Bay. This is also called Seal Beach. The seals gather across the bay to sun themselves. Several seals also are swimming close too the shore where we are. We noticed several watching the dogs closely--like "what in the world are those creatures?" Our dogs never saw it, at least they haven't yet!

One day this past week we drove down to Heceta (He SEE ta) Head Lighthouse State Park. Weather glorious--in that sun was mostly shining, skies partly cloudy....!
Lots of nice sandy beach at Heceta Head Lighthouse State Park!

Short 1/2 mile trail up to lighthouse.

Heceta Head Lighthouse--the most photographed lighthouse on the Oregon Coast!

Weather--BEAUTIFUL! Notice the color of the ocean!
That afternoon, clouds came and we had rain! It was chilly!

Later! Roving Riders enjoying the Oregon Coast
