Catching UP.....

We had a "quiet" fall/winter season in AZ. Roving Rider's Roost was a good place to "settle" in the Covid 19 situation.

We got together with our small group, our "pod" we called it:  playing cards, going on UTV rides, and rather than eating out, we had picnics in the area!  Starting in mid January we were able to get Covid 19 vaccinations from the State Farm Stadium in Glendale, AZ, becoming fully vaccinated by the end of February.

We celebrated birthdays of our small group with a picnic (we DO like to EAT!) out in the desert on our side by sides in January.

We had several rides out in the desert with our small group.

We headed out from Roving Rider's Roost April 30, seeking the coolness of Colorado, Wyoming, and Montana!

We are currently near Mancos, Colorado, having successfully escaped the heat of AZ! We are half a mile from the entrance to Mesa Verde National Park, and we have been taking FULL advantage of that closeness!

Our "daily" exercise ride:  down to US 160, up about a quarter of a mile, then down the bank to the frontage road, up the frontage road then on up to the entrance station to Mesa Verde National Park, then back down. Repeat, repeat, repeat (until the traffic gets too much! Then we call it quits!)  We usually get about 12 miles, in just over an hour. Going down hill FUN! Uphill, we (especially Lindy!) use pedal assist.

So, we decided to check the Weatherill Mesa Long House Loop Bike Trail. It meant driving in about 27 miles in but it was well worth the effort!

Here is a link to our ride from All Trails, if you are interested.

We enjoyed the loop trail, going around it twice, and spent time going out to a couple of overlooks. Fortunately that day was a nice one! No wind! We were observant of the time as Miss Maddie was home by herself. We were rightfully talked at upon our return, for leaving her!

Mesa Verde has experienced a number of forest fires over the years. It quickly becomes very visible as one drives around. You will notice in the pictures the stark change of the landscape. We have been (and currently are, this afternoon) under several weather fire alerts:  watches and warnings during our stay here near Mancos. Humidity is low, EVERYTHING is dry, and MAN! The wind is gusting up to 40 mph at times! We MUST be careful with Mother Earth!

Until next time!

Roving Riders, SWIRVIN on down the road.
