April Fools! We're NOT leaving North Ranch!....NOT!

We buttoned it all up at North Ranch, pulling out about 9:15 AM. Lindy did order new tire sensors for the tire pressure monitor, and after checking the tires discovered an inside dual low on air. Knowing the job tires do, and what can happen when tires fail. time was taken to get the air compressor out and fill the tire. Time well spent as you'll see later in this post. After hooking up the jeep, we pulled out heading south by south east... We dealt with winds most of the day, sighting huge dust devils south of Chandler. Of course signage along the highway warning of dust storms also served as a major clue warning of winds! We arrived in Benson, SKP (Escapees) Saguaro Co-op around 3. Winds continue to blow, according to the weather channel around 15 to 20 mpg. We had a gust stronger 20 that blew the door shut and items near windows to the floor. Looks like we will have them tomorrow as we head east across I-10 into Las Cruces. We did notice that Alpine has a wind advisory of winds 20 to 30 mpg...ending Monday night...we hope! Tuesday night we will be in Alpine! One day at a time, 230 miles a day for the next day, then 267 to Alpine...! Just our "size"!

This Co-op is very nice. Many people have built decks on their lots, enabling a terrific view of the mountains! That is what we want to do at North Ranch! View here is good of the Dragoon Mountains to the east. Sunset tonight was special!

Now back to the tires:  we were driving down I-10 in Phoenix in the lane next to the outside lane. Mike noticed a motor home coming up in the lane next to her to pass us. Mike heard a loud explosion, looked to see what was going on, and noticed the jeep the motor home was towing jack knifing back and forth, the motor home sped across the two lanes to our left, across the HOV lane, and eventually pulled to a stop off the road next to the HOV lane. We could see debris across the road, and smoke coming from the driver's side, rear tires. The driver did a masterful job controlling his rig, and NOT hitting us! Of course we had a comment about his speed...and the fact that he was trying to pass us! Mike was traveling at 60 mpg...our favorite speed and now our NEW favorite fastest speed! We will take all the time it takes to insure our tires are a-okay! We continued, thankful we were okay, and every mindful of the importance of good tires!

Tomorrow we will be "home" in our home state--well adopted home state!  Doesn't 40 years in a state give you that?! It is exciting seeing those familiar yellow license plates. Even the "new" centennial plates, which Lindy remembers having on her Volkswagen beetle and Mike on her Audi Fox oh those many years ago!  Too bad we didn't save them! In fact, Lindy's 1950 Plymouth she got from her grandmother had those plates! What was is!

Be safe! We are trying to be!

Paws and Friends
