Catching up on Happenings with the Roving Riders

The monthly "Data Cap" was reached all too soon on the Riders' Internet feed in mid December....a very good excuse for no posts, don't you think?! But what, say you, explains the lack of posts from January 3 on....?  Ummmm, no excuses.....! Let's catch up!

The Riders' explored the open land behind North Ranch, hunting for those Giants of the Sonoran Desert, Saguaro Cacti. There are not many near us (GREAT excuse for the Blue Buggy Ride!). We are after all, on the northern tip (see the link). We traveled to "Lonesome Saguaro", aptly named for it stands by itself about a mile from the back gate. We continued on down the wash, heading south where we found some more on the hills above the wash. The closer you get to hills, the more Saguaros you'll see. Our travels allow us to see this country in a very different light than what one sees zipping by on the highways at 65 mph.

Cactus south and east of Lonesome Saguaro -- Paws LOVE exploring!

The ruts of the sandy wash....

Look! On top of the hill!

A close-up of that cactus!

Lindy's cousin, Gay and her husband Richard, spent an afternoon December 18, eating and chatting MUCH about this and that! Gay and Richard brought gifts for the Paws, which they thoroughly enjoyed. They had stopped by the day before on their way to Scottsdale to drop off a plate of goodies for the human riders! Delicious Christmas treats!

Rupert, enjoying his toy!

We met Gay and Richard the next morning for breakfast at Congress' local eatery, Nichols West. Delicious meal!

Bitty, with hers!

This was our 4th Christmas fulltiming, and our 2nd here at North Ranch. We decorated our yard, and the inside of the coach for the season. Here are some shots:

See the Arizona Snowman?!

Shopping on small business Saturday, we found this horseshoe tree--we used it as our Christmas tree, and for the month of January, it had snowmen hanging from it! We have a special book we bought called Rescue Rupert. It was a special auction in support of Corgi Rescues....we just had to have it as it describes how Santa and Mrs. Claus rescued a Corgi named Rupert.....!

At the bottom right you'll see the beautiful card our friend Teresa made!

Will close this post with our wish for 2014, expressed by our card, and a beautiful rainbow out our window to the east!

All the best!  Roving Riders
