Our Time in Houghton -- Part I....
Where we are......
We are in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, on the Keweenaw Peninsula. A canal, listed on some maps as the Portage River, dissects the Keweenaw Peninsula. There is only one way across this body of water, and that is over the Lift Bridge from Houghton into Hancock on US 41.
We have spent our time here enjoying the City of Houghton RV Park, built right on the canal with tremendous views, and taking several side trips throughout the Keneewah Peninsula, but in no way have we "seen it all!" Houghton, MI goes into our files as a "place to return"...!
The RV Park is nice.....

The Keweenaw National Historic Park seems to be every where in the Peninsula! We started out thinking just one town, Calumet. But on our drives here and there around and through the area, we discovered that the area is called Copper Country, and that copper mining and related activity is everywhere throughout the area! It is really all one large historic area!
Stay tuned for more about our time here, in Part 2!
SWIRVIN around, enjoying Houghton and the Keweenaw Peninsula!
We are jealous, we never saw a seaplane.
