Special Cousin Day!

We were out walking/hiking in the "outback" behind North Ranch when Lindy saw some color just above the brush... It was not fall! It was not spring! What is going on?

Shortly, the color grew, trying to reach the sky. By golly, look! It is a rainbow "burst"! Wow! That is really something special!

Then Lindy remembered Byrd Baylor's book I'm In Charge of Celebrations.  If you haven't read that book, Dear Friend, then you must! We all have celebrations that do not occur on the normal days, such as Christmas, and even birthdays! Some of us would just as soon NOT celebrate birth days...! So this day, it was Tuesday, January 13, 2015, 5:24 PM, was indeed a very special day. We have to write it down. So we are.

Now you probably are not as excited as we were, but I have to tell you that it was special! We stopped for a bit, and just looked! We tried to find the rest of the rainbow. After looking and looking, we were able to see the "burst" at the other end of the arch, quite a ways behind us and to the south! With careful looking, we saw bits and pieces of the arch, but the full arch was not visible.

All of this made Lindy think. How is it that we are seeing this? What makes that burst of color just above the horizon yet it disappears in the sky? Look at the colors and shadows. Look at the clouds, from white to black with blue sky separating them. What is it you see? And it was even sprinkling a bit on us! Yet there were no clouds above us! We had to share this special day!

So it will be Special Cousin Day! Today is Lindy's Cousin's birthday, and what better way to celebrate the friendship, the hope, the laughter, the joy this cousin brings to others, then having January 13, 2015, be Special Cousin Day!

January is the first month of a new year. January brings hope. January brings new beginnings. January brings the excitement of all the unknowns--what is in store for me THIS year? So January 13, 2015, and future January 13s shall be the day to Celebrate Special Cousin Day!

Laugh! Love! Live! Hope!
