Moving on down the road....

We sadly departed Valley Camp, North Bend, WA Monday, September 17. Sadly, because the weather is terrific! Cool, crisp mornings, beautiful sun-shiny days with temps in the low 70's. Leaves falling....! Only problem is the dew in the mornings! Even with Red Flag warnings for the dryness...dew still "falls" nightly! We suppose this weather is an excellent trade-off for the wet spring we experienced last year--and that we may well experience next spring! Oh well!

Ambassador RV Resort, Caldwell ID
We drove east over the pass, down into Hermiston, OR where we saw fields of watermelon; that delicious seedless watermelon! We wanted to stop the coach and walk over and pick up a few. We did not. Instead, we checked into Pioneer RV Park, a nice park for an overnight stop with a good pull through so we did not have to unhook the jeep. Our trip Monday was 218 miles...not bad for a day's trip, especially with all freeway driving.

Tuesday we continued with all freeway driving, stopping in Caldwell, ID at the Ambassador RV Resort which we found to be very nice! Sites are long and wide, with gravel for all "work" around the rig, a patio complete with table, then grass between sites! Oh, and shade trees as well, tho' not large enough yet to hamper sat reception. This campground is definitely a keeper on our list! Mileage Tuesday was 228...over our limit of 200, but comfortable.

Cactus Pete's Saguaro RV Park
Jackpot, NV
Wednesday we were able to exit the freeway for the Thousand Springs Scenic By-Way on Historic US 30, past many features:  Thousand Springs, Hagerman Valley (town of Hagerman has a very nice RV park where we stayed on our trip to the NW from Maine earlier), the Snake River, Hagerman Fossil Beds National Monument and more! We have driven this route many times, and always find it enjoyable! We have added this location to our ever-growing list of "Places to Spend More Time."  We connected to US 93 south of Twin Falls into Jackpot, NV, where we hooked up at Cactus Pete's Saguaro RV Park. We'll stay a couple of nights, even tho' we don't have full hookups, nor do we have 50 amps. They do have a dump station, and can dump grey only at the site. Overall, park is nice, with pavement on the lower section, and grass separating the sites. We ran the air yesterday afternoon, shutting it off in the evening, then running our furnace this morning as it was 48 in the coach! We are enjoying the coolness, as we shall be in the September heat soon enough! We traveled 194 miles, enjoying the scenery along the scenic byway!

Here is a map these last three days of travel.

We'll hunt a geocache this afternoon. This stop has been good! We have caught up on some on our blogging!

Until next time!
