Road Trip! Tucson for Fun and Service!

It is time! After a month or so of sitting, it is time to "exercise" the motor home and generator, and we prefer to do the exercising in a real way...moving on down the road! So, we called Lazydays RV in Tucson to schedule warranty followup repairs; and Freightliner in Tucson for service on our coach. Good reasons, don't your think, for a road trip?! After our experiences in April (see earlier post) at both locations, we are happy to return to have quality work done on our coach.

Here we are at the corner of Peaceful and Lazydays, enjoying Tucson!

We figured about 2 weeks would be good for completing the work, and allowing us time to enjoy and explore! We left North Ranch Monday November  5, with appointments Wednesday the 7th at Lazydays and Thursday the 8th at Freightliner. Here is our route:

All is going well on both fronts: Freightliner completed their work, and Lazydays Service has ordered what is needed to complete the warranty work--we are just waiting for the parts to come in, then installation. Interestingly, they did determine that both rear jacks needed replacement when Poulsbo Everett said they were okay... We are glad we found Lazydays!

We took the RV Driver Confidence Course Lazydays offers, free! The course included two hours of classroom plus actual hands on driving experience around the Campground in one of their coaches! It was excellent! Between the two of us we have 56,000 miles of driving experience, we read a book on driving an RV, plus have watched the videos and tips on driving offered through their web site (betterRVing.com, RV Driver Confidence Course), but actually practicing these tips with the instructor and other members of the class can't be beat! One can always improve, and this Course was a great opportunity to practice what we know along with applying new strategies.

We explored parts of old Tucson, the El Presidio Historic District, the Iron Horse Historic District, and the Barrio Historic District.

These are pictures from the El Presidio. Very similar the Alamo in San Antonio, except that there is not a major event associated with it as with the Alamo.

To the left is the Corbett Mansion, built in 1906, in the El Presidio district. The plaque on the left is at the end of the wall to the left of the picture.

This picture is from the Barrio district...showing adobe construction, nicely restored, and others perhaps waiting for restoration?

There is still much to see and do! We'll get back with more!  Later!
