Enjoying the Coast!

After our first trip on the beach
Being on the Oregon Coast is NOT complete unless one spends time on the beach and that we have done EACH day we have been here! What fun we have had! Rupert got a chance to play ball, we looked for "treasures" including some agates, shells and other small rocks, and in general spent  time just enjoying the sounds and sights of the breakers.  Look what we did with the rocks and agates! Even added a red rock for the cherry!

We did mention earlier that there were some steps
Steps to the upper level in the RV Park
involved for beach access didn't we? From our site down to the main level in the park are 24 steps. Then it takes about five minutes to walk across the road and down to the stairs leading to beach access. Here there are 76 stairs with four landings! They added something positive to the experience--well, mostly positive! You'll see that Rupert, with his short legs, did have a problem going UP the stairs....! Going down was not a problem for him on the beach access. You can see what he did going up...! Now the stairs in the park he prefers to be carried BOTH up and down! The four landings on the beach access stairs provide a good place for "rest" stops, for anyone desiring some....!

We are at beach access number 48, just up from the Historic Taft District, which is number 49 for rescue purposes, where there is  public parking, Mo's Restaurant, and lots of things to do at Siletz Bay. We walked south on the beach to the inlet into the Bay. There are seals across the inlet which can be seen both from the Historic Taft beach access parking area (where there is a geocache we found last September) and from the beach side. In the morning we watched the seals in the surf feeding. They were fun to watch bobbing in the waves, looking at us wondering what in the world were those things doing? And what was the goofy four legged thing doing?

One Happy Little Dog--One Tired Mike!

We saw whales! Finally after all these years looking for them, Lindy looks out, then shouts "Look! There is a whale!" We saw about three, and now we know what to look for! Of course on that day Lindy did not have her camera!

And the sun was shining most of the time! Of the 18 days it rained three times. Two of those times we wore our rain coats walking, although it did not rain on us!
Heading out....

Rupert left tracks in the sand--just as both he and Bitty have left tracks in our hearts. The sounds of the surf are still in our memories, just as those tracks will forever be.....

Later! We are the Roving Riders, SWIRVIN on down the road!
