Geocachers Are We!!

We also did some real world treasure hunting, geocaching! Lincoln City is a GREAT place for seeking these real-world treasures. For those readers not familiar with geocaching, check out the www.geocaching.com website. During our visit last September we found several caches by Beachguy, a retired educator who has hid a number of geocaches in Lincoln City, so we sought out more of his caches. Lindy used an app on her smartphone which makes it handy. There are several apps on both iPhones and Smartphones for geocaching which makes the hobby more affordable and accessible--as long as there is data coverage!

Lindy located some geocaches, stored them on her phone, then we embarked on this adventure, exploring more areas of the city and learning a bit more about the area plus having a good time! Here is a picture where the geocache "Peak at the Bay" was hidden. Don't you love the play on words? Great view, out onto Siletz Bay.

At another cache site we found some fantastic antique/book stores! It was this store where we bought the diet cherry coke glass to house our special treasure collection of rocks from the beach in the previous post! This store was almost a museum: of old medicine bottles, an old and varied collection of tools, and of course books...! We shall revisit this location!  The cache we found here was Those Darn Lucky Cats, for any wishing to follow up. All you need to geocache is a log-in "handle"! It is free! It is FUN!!!

We encourage you to try geocaching. Go to www.geocaching.com, and create your log-in. It is free! Find an app you like on your phone, or use your favorite GPS. Good luck, and happy treasure hunting!

Roving Riders, SWIRVIN on down the road!
