Elite Repair and Remodel LLC--Coach Repair and Restoration: Wall to Wall Bumper to Bumper -- TERRIFIC!!
How to find a good place to take your RV for service? It is a tough question! We have an answer for you! Read on!
We cannot say enough about this place Lindy found it first in RV forums, then from reviews on line. All of us living full time in our home on wheels struggle with locating that one place where we take our "home" for service where we can relax, knowing that work is being done correctly, with care, and LOTS of practical, applied experience! This knowledge pays off in triple dividends as problems are diagnosed and effectively dealt with.
Our initial appointment was for our silly satellite radio component of our JVC "Head" in our Phaeton. On our departure from Death Valley in January, Lindy noticed that the SAT component was no longer available--we were unable to listen to music! You may well be laughing at us in this predicament. We weren't! We enjoy the convenience of SAT radio--always receiving a signal (except under overpasses--and those rare occasions of tree tunnels!), compared to manning the single CD player with a 24 pound Corgi co-pilot on your lap...!
Lindy researched this problem first on the Tiffin RV Network, and all other possible areas! A possible solution was to replace the tuner--as they were "known" to die prematurely....so we called Tiffin Parts and ordered a new tuner. We had learned from the Tiffin Network that sometimes all that was needed was to unplug and plug the tuner back in to the JVC head. We talked to the tech that installed our window awning for us, and he told us we could do that--all we needed was a screwdriver to unscrew the dash, and pull it our carefully--find the tuner, unplug it from the radio, and plug it back in. It would be good, he said, to have the new tuner at that time, so that if the unplug, re-plug dance did not work, we could replace the tuner then. Ummmm... Once upon a time Lindy was determined that the collective "we" could repair a kitchen faucet that was a problem. The result? The faucet became a geyser to the ceiling! We had to call friends with a proper plumbing wrench to shut off the water! Did we dare attempt this "fix?"
We tried. We saw the tuner--way "deep" among the wiring..... "We" decided to quit! Put the dash back in and wait for a proper repair! Sparks flew as we tried to fit it all back in--the 12 volt outlets particularly NOT happy about the way they were handled. Of course, they no longer worked....!
And, when the tuner from Tiffin came, it was the wrong part, so we called Tiffin, and they said to send it back. They would credit our account, including shipping. (Yea! Tiffin!) Lindy got on line and downloaded the installation directions for the JVC navigation unit in our rig. A diagram indicted two parts to ensure effective connection for SAT radio. These parts are no longer available, but Lindy found a SIRIUS tuner, and the JVC adapter from two different sources on the internet and placed orders for each. We packed these pieces with us, hoping to find a place along our route for installation.
Elite Repair in Harrisburg, OR to the rescue! They listened to our story (laughing a bit at our attempts to repair!), and said they could do this. Anything else? Well, we said, yes----there is the driver side window that was replaced last summer, but leaks..... the 12 volt receptacles do not work, and at the bottom of our list was the spotlight not working. (Who uses the spotlight? But we might want to, so if we could get it to work....), oh, and the generator needs servicing....!
They handled everything--locating the SAT and GPS antennas and plugging them back in, window fixed, and spotlight working once again! Eric took the time to ensure all was working properly before we took off.
We cannot say enough about these guys! Their cards state "wall to wall -- bumper to bumper". We recommend this place highly for any and all work! They are located in Harrisburg, Oregon at 642 Hwy 99, Harrisburg, OR 97446. The shop phone number is 541-995-4767. If you are or will be in the area and need servicing or repair, call them for an appointment! This is their current website.
So, the Paws and their Friends (NOT RV repair techs! but know of a GREAT place!) are soon to be SWIRVIN on down the road, happily listening to their SAT radio and using the Navigation once again!
