We are in the Deep Forests!!

Leaving Likely, on those roads "less traveled".....California 299, to California 39, on to Oregon 140--and WOW! What a great drive! Here's our route:

And what a GRAND place we called "home" for a few days! Rogue River RV Park is located right on the Rogue River, just past the bridge heading north on the Crater Lake Highway, Oregon 62. Our site, #76, was
Site at Rogue River RV Park
designed for motorhomes. We pulled in, facing the river, so that we had a terrific view of the river! Plenty of room to park our toad behind our coach. We had no neighbors, as early enough in the season, so the only reason we closed the night shades was the low temperature a couple of nights! We never "blocked" our picture window!

Bitty LOVES the grass!!
The only draw back in being in the deep forest was satellite TV reception--of which there was NONE! Lindy, the "TV setter upper" hooked up the cable and ran the cable set up on the TV's, only to find that only three channels were found.....!  Ummmm....! What a challenge.....! Except she had no idea why.....until it hit her like "Wow! I could have had a V-8!"  The last change in TV set up was antenna--and there is an antenna booster which must be turned OFF for cable.....! Lindy finally realized that, shut off the antenna booster, and guess what! We had cable!

Shady Cove is a neat, small town, with Mac's Diner, a 50's excellent place to eat, and lots of other small town "stuff" to do!
Stopping to roll, and roll, and roll......

Just down the road towards Medford are two larger towns:  Eagle Point and White City with several opportunities for shopping:  Walmart, Costco, etc. Fortunately for us, as we have been traveling with an eye for vets for Bitty, we found an excellent spot for Bitty at the All Creatures Animal Hospital in Eagle Point. (more on her progress in a separate post)

For Oregon, we had great weather for all but one day.  We cooked on the grill three days! The only day it rained was  the day we drove up to Crater Lake! We left early, realizing that the best opportunity to see the lake was to get there early. We did! Of course it was cold....but we had time to walk through the snow and get some good shots. We stopped at the Rim Cafe for lunch, and to look around. We came out to rain! We drove on down to
the Steel Visitor's Center, then back to our site.

Visitor's Center--Nope! Can't enter through the front door!

Snow along sides of the road on our way down.....

Snow disappearing as elevation decreases......

To this....!

Elevation at the rim was 7100 feet.....dropping down to 4000 feet.....Shady Cove was about 1700 feet. We saw lots of snow piled up, but understand this winter there has not been as much snow as usual......Did we say this already? We do like Rogue River RV Park, and will return--NOT during the summer, but fall would be a GREAT time for a visit! The fall colors should be tremendous! And we can spend more time (with easier access!) to places around the rim in Crater Lake!

All in all, a FUN DAY!
