Our site in Blue Lake RV Resort  A-1
Blue Lake RV Resort just outside of Naples, ID and south of Bonners Ferry is an OK place.... We would not have fit in the pull-through site originally "assigned" to us so he "upgraded" us to a back-in. We could park the car across the road from our site. Site is gravel, roads throughout the park are gravel/dirt. Our site was not level, and it took us a few times to get rid of the "excess slope" message from the levelers. It is so hard to push buttons to level the coach!  Of course one of us had to be outside arranging the jack pads under each, to "fool" the jack....THAT was the warm job!

There is a small lake, made by a glacier, estimated to be 100 feet deep. The lake is fed by an underground aquifer. It is home to turtles, catfish and trout. There is an outbuilding for the Lake Shower, before and after a swim. We did not take a swim. All in all this park is a pleasant place to spend a couple of days.

The Northern Panhandle of Idaho is a must see! There are mountains, trees, lots of lakes--beautiful country! And of course Bonners Ferry was named after a fellow named Bonner who realized a ferry across the Kootenai River just might be profitable
Historic part of Bonners Ferry
at a time when gold and other mining activities were expanding in 1863-1864. The town grew along the eastern bank, where we explored today. Here we found the Rusty Moose for lunch as they had tables and chairs outside so we could sit with Rupert. It was very pleasant sitting outside and taking in the sights and sounds of Bonners Ferry.

There is much to see and do! We picked up information on the International Selkirk Loop, billed as one of the top 10 scenic destinations in the Northern Rockies. It covers the north eastern part of Washington, Northern Idaho, and British Columbia--with side trips into Montana and off the "main" route in British Columbia. We begin our "planning"--for sometime in the future! That is the beauty of our lifestyle! We never run out of places to see!

After our lunch we picked up groceries at Safeway then went exploring and geocaching--two excellent activities that mesh together really well! Lindy found a cache near Safeway, then we headed south on US 95 when we saw a sign for Deep Creek RV Resort, so turned off US 95 to check out this RV park. We discovered the road was old highway 95 and US 2, and once we found the "resort", we realized that perhaps at one time it may have been a going concern--not any more. Lindy did find a geocache near, and the super cacher, Mike, found it!

The old highway came out in downtown Naples, so we turned north on the "new" US 95/US 2 and drove back to the rig. The park has a nice "off leash" are for the dogs, truly a wild vineyard--wild describing all the weeds that have grown up around an old vineyard. The park has mowed an area down the hill around and

through the vineyard, which does provide for a

nice place for Rupert to play soccer. This evening it all will be in the shade! You can see the Wild Vineyard in the train pictures.

That is right, grain trains are a constant! But they are hard to hear over the air conditioner!

We've enjoyed our two day break. However, we like what our friends Bob and Jo, of How to Love Where You Are and Eat Where the Locals Eat, have done this summer. They stay for a week at a location, then move on....We are forever learning and adjusting! Isn't it great that we can do so?!

Later!  We are the Roving Riders, SWIRVIN on down the road! Montana, here we come!

  1. Sometimes even a week at a place is not enough to see and do everything.
