Happy New Beginnings!

We have to share these with you! We have noticed them around North Ranch before....the blossoms do not last long, and we had thought we had missed them, NOT! Tuesday morning, while riding our bikes around North Ranch, Lindy had to stop by the coach and pick up her camera--the blossoms were terrific! Here is what she found: (click on a picture to enlarge it)

People around here call them "Easter Cactus"! We will not debate the title, rather, we shall enjoy! Hope you do to!

Happy Easter!

As indicated in the previous post, we have been busy, busy doing other than our blog.....!

  • Blood Drive March 15, with all the background work raising awareness, Lindy being "Blood Drop" in the La Fiesta parade with the Blue Buggy all decked out in the proper "stuff"....! We reached 92% of our goal!

  • Lindy volunteered last fall to compile the weekly North Ranch News, utilizing her Publisher skills in the process... It continues to  be an enjoyable weekly project, happily (for Lindy) ending for this season with next Wednesday's edition!
  • Mike volunteered to serve a 3 year term on the North Ranch Advisory Committee, tasked to serve as a liaison between Rainbow Parks, Inc and the North Ranch (NR) lot owners in establishing a relationship providing an enriched living experience for the NR residents while complying with the regulations required for the smooth operation of the NR subdivision. This committee meets once a month, last one next Wednesday (hence our delayed departure this season....!). Mike's area of responsibility is acting as the welcome person to all new lot owners by delivering a bag containing informational brochures and notices specific to North Ranch and the surrounding area.
  • Serving on the Advisory Committee opened up the possibility of us adopting two green spaces in North Ranch--green spaces meaning areas at the end of some of the rows in the development "maintained" by volunteers who adopt same....thus providing us with lots of opportunities to "garden" in the desert--trimming cacti with a saw or sharp machete-type knife, using a pitch fork to gather up the yard debris to throw it into a trailer. All in all, a very good experience out in the hot desert sun wearing long leather gloves to avoid the prickly cacti. Fun! Our two lots are near us, at the end of our street.
  • Then there have been the "yearly maintenance" for us--dentists and doctors.... Lindy had a baby tooth pulled that has provided pretty fair service for 60 plus years....! Next October will be follow-up visits for the resulting implant where the tooth was.... There were other ...ists:  ophthalmologists and dermatologists requiring some of our time.... All is good, at least good for another year and related "human miles"  until the next visit....
You might note that we are indeed enjoying retirement! We operate without a schedule, except for the weekly news; oh, and the monthly meeting, and delivering the welcome bags to the new lot owners.... Yes, indeed, retirement is good! Lots of time on our hands to enjoy the beautiful weather and sights of the desert....!

Enjoy!  Later...

Roving Riders, soon to be Swirvin on down the road!
